They have been performers at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on December 8th 2015 in New York! A great night celebrating the 20th anniversary of the brand.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Valentino team up for Wonder Woman

Every woman is a wonder woman. This is a fashion statement. High-end designer Valentino and super actress Gwyneth Paltrow are teaming up to give the most iconic superheroine a makeover.

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative directors of  Valentino's fashion house, have dedicated to the comic heroine a capsule collection for the Goop Mrkt, the pop-up store site, launched by Gwyneth Paltrow, that has been just inaugurated (on 23 November in New York) at The Time Warner Center in NY.

"The Wonder Woman Valentino" limited edition, created in collaboration with roman street artist Solo (available as well on Goop.com)  consists of 24 pieces, mixed of clothing and accessories. Leitmotif is the iconic "star" theme,  that appears everywhere: sneakers, evening dress,  leather bag and military jacket.

Star Wars

The Force is headed towards runways. Space rocks and futuristic silhouettes, waiting for the new "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". The much-anticipated movie by Lucasfilm that opens on December 18 is shaping up to be a point of interest this winter.

Meanwhile, for cinematographic saga fans, the super movie has partnered with Bloomingdale's department store in New York for a big philanthropic fashion initiative. Beginning next week, five of the windows will be outfitted with costumes and props from the upcoming film, each focused on a key location of the movie. Then on December 3, the windows will switch to a group of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" looks created by 10 fashion designers, such as Diane von Fürstenberg, Cynthia Rowley, Giles Deacon, Halston, Opening Ceremony, Ovadia & Sons, Parker, Rag & Bone, Timo Weiland and Todd Snyder.

The designers' participation is part of a fund-raising initiative called "Force 4 Fashion", where each designer created a look based on a "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" character, which will be auctioned for charity. Each designer made two samples: one for the auction and one for the Bloomingdale's windows.

The new vocabulary of Italian fashion

What does Italian style mean today for the whole fashion world? For those who pass by Milan, the new go-to event is The new vocabulary of Italian fashion, at the Triennale di Milano.

It's a one of a kind event that was created from the need to recognize and celebrate the present Italian fashion world as well as its protagonists: brands and creative minds that have renewed and recovered its traditional cultural, technical and technological DNA over the past 20 years, rewriting it in a language that is completely original. From ready-to-wear and streetwear to footwear, eyewear, jewellery and hats.

The exhibition is an accurate staging of the stretch of the Made in Italy label's recent history since 1998, the year that marks the concrete transition to a world interconnected by the web and new forms of communication. This was 10 years before the great global crisis of 2008, which affected Western economies and undermined the economic, social and cultural paradigms of post-modernity. 

Over 100 of the most important companies and emerging designers on the contemporary scene will participate in the exhibition with their products and projects.

For pet lovers only. 

It's time to consider the amount of pet-themed collections taking over all the fave cool-girl brands right now. Animal-inspired fashion is the most unexpectedly awesome trend for this winter 2015-2016. 

This season it's a true zoo.

Animals of all kinds were embroidered, printed, and collaged onto every type of garment: from tops to coats. Trendsetter designers, from Alice + Olivia, to Valentino, Céline, Marni and Antonio Marras have sent out clothes bearing the likenesses of all manner of fauna.

Louis Vuitton is to celebrate the art of traveling and its most prestigious heritage with a new exhibition opening in Paris at Grand Palais (from 4th December to 21th February 2016).

The thematic journey conceived and designed by Robert Carsen navigates through 9 chapters, opening with the absolute symbol of Louis Vuitton: an antique trunk. Retracing a great journey from 1854 till today, it's a great, unique excursus over decades which presents, also, female icon style and most famous lady in the past who choose to be accompanied by this elegant luggage. 

Beauty essentials, jewellery boxes, celebrity luggage, superstar trunks designed by artists over the last seasons, accessories for elegant dandies are featured from Louis Vuitton patrimony, together with a selection of pieces by Palais Galliera and Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris. The art of Bottega Veneta: A new fashion book

A book of photography that is not only a book of photography. Fashion photographs that are not (only) fashion shootings. Bottega Veneta showcases the whole amazing visual heritage that made the Italian luxury brand an international top griffe.

It's "The Art of Collaboration" (ed. Rizzoli) a new coffee table book that collects thirteen years (almost 1.000 pictures) of advertising campaigns for Bottega Veneta. Launched a few days ago in Milan, this special project is going to be presented in New York in the upcoming weeks, followed almost certainly by a travelling exhibition.

Along the years, the company teamed up with famous photographers including Nobuyoshi Araki, Nan Goldin, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Pieter Hugo, Peter Lindbergh and Juergen Teller.

Meanwhile, it's official that the Italian luxury brand has tapped Raymond Meier to shoot its 2016 cruise advertising campaign, debuting in December. The Swiss photographer lensed models Josephine Le Tutour and Ben Allen with New York's skyline as a background.

From intricate dark lace to elaborate frills and vintage-inspired accessories, Victoriana is the decadent trend taking over this autumn, just in time for Halloween. The FW 15/16 fashion collections bring all dark things out of the shadow with a bright twist. 

It's Hotel Transylvania-mania: vampires are cool, fairytales are weaving a dark magic, textured gowns are shaped around structured Victorian bodies. The dark side of fashion is on the edge. Made in Italy's excellence online

The first online guide to Italian artisanal excellence has just launched: Italia-sumisura.it. Sponsored by the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte, along with OmA (Observatory on the Arts and Crafts), the project is conceived as a platform where art, craftsmanship and fashion meet in the name of Made in Italy. 

Over 300 addresses (it is only the beginning!), featuring shops and ateliers, converge to show the best of the Bel Paese's one-of-a-kind craftsmanship. Different sections cover a wide range of handmade productions: from decorative arts, to fashion accessories, home decor, musical instruments, costumes and restoration. Moreover international visitors and collectors can access a rich database of upcoming Italian fairs and events. The site, available in two languages and mobile-friendly, allows users to explore these realities by categories or through geolocation. 

A third of the artisans featured on Italia-sumisura.it will be the stars of a hardcover book, which is due by December 2015.

Guess the gender!

Did you notice? Gender stereotypes are démodé. When it comes to sex roles, fashion enjoys mixing up different points of view (and garments). As seen on Giorgio Armani's, Sibling's, Prada's and Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane's catwalks: all of them featured both men and women in their shows, with such models and clothes similarities that ‘guess the gender' has fast become the favourite "topic" during recent fashion weeks.

What about high-street fashion? It's on the same way. The first alarm was launched by the super department store Selfridges that, last year, has created Agender, a new gender-neutral pop-up (that spanned three floors of its Oxford Street flagship store). The experiment still goes on during the Fall Winter 2015-2016.

So, the upcoming winter shopping experience will be filled with gender-neutral statements: bigger sweatshirts, tailored jackets and pantsuits, mannish footwear, often energized by color and creepers soles. But pay attention. It's a new mix for her and for him. Woman or man? Pink or black? No one is the winner, both are! Funny details like classic fedoras, unisex fluo eyewear, comics prints never miss.

Vivienne Westwood to save Venice (and climate change)

Good news!

Thanks to the British evergreen designer Vivienne Westwood, fashion is more "active" than ever.

The famous style icon dedicated her SS16 show to saving Venice, reflecting its giddy, gilded culture on her runway.

The show for her Gold Label collection was called "Mirror The World", and was devoted to Venice. The defilé saw the city, slowly sinking into its surrounding lagoon, as the centre stage for the Paris catwalk. A pre-show film saw Westwood speak of Venice as an «emporium of culture», citing painters Titian and Bellini, and the city's carnival, as inspiration.

In the latest film which communicates the message behind SS16 Gold Label's show in Paris, Vivienne speaks of «Saving Venice!»and protecting it from the effects of climate change. So what can we do to help save Venice and the rest of the world from this imminent threat? Vivienne says we should get together, join forces and demonstrate!

From her blog, the super British designer invite her fans to join The People's March for Climate, Justice and Jobs set on Sunday 29th November in London. Vivienne urges us all to attend with our friends and family as «The more people attend, the better the chance to save the world».

Warhol Unlimited in Paris

Forever Andy! 

An amazing opening has been attracting people, tourists and especially fashion lovers in Paris these days.

The Musée d'Art Moderne presents Unlimited, a large exhibition dedicated to the renowned American artist Andy Warhol (1928-1987). Comprising over 200 works, Unlimited highlights the serial side of the Warhol oeuvre, a crucial aspect of his work, and his ability to rethink the way art should be exhibited.

Housed at the Dia Art Foundation, Shadows is a striking group of 102 silkscreened canvases of 17 different colours whose length totals more than 130 metres. Asked if these pictures were art, Warhol said no: "You see, the opening party had disco. I guess that makes them disco décor." His art represents a challenge which the Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris extends to include series like the Electric Chairs (1964–1971), the Jackies (1964), the Flowers (1964–1965) and the Maos (1972–1973).

New debut for Kate Moss

Her crazy selfie together with her "little sister" Cara Delevingne during the last Milan Fashion Week have stroke paparazzi and the whole global blogosphere. But the It british model Kate Moss had another surprise in store, her debut in interior design. After designing several sell-out collections for Topshop, Kate has now moved into the realm of interiors. Not decor or wallpapers, but luxury homes.

Britain's most famous model has brandished her style across a barn house in the Cotswolds - in the idyllic Oxfordshire region - which is on the market for £2.5 million.

The result? Handpicked velvet sofas, a mirrored four-poster bed and a black&white stripy guest room with pink curtains and Peruvian bed covers. A very eclectic bohemian mix, Moss' style. Well done, Kate! Which is going to be her next step?

Tommy Hilfiger presents Rock Style in London

A unique exhibition in London at Sotheby's is going to celebrate the ground-breaking style of the world's biggest rock stars. Personally curated by American designer Tommy Hilfiger and art curator Jeffrey Deitch, the show will feature iconic images by the great Rock Photographers including Roberta Bayley, Janette Beckman, Bruce Davidson, Terence Donovan and many others. Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Hilfiger's eponymous brand, this exhibition celebrates the dialogue between fashion, music and self-styled icons for whom clothing formed a central part of their identity as artists. The story beyond the most iconic photos, like John Lennon's images - Beatles icon captured by Bob Gruen's pics at home in New York - are shown and unveiled for an iconographic adventure from past to present. The rise of sneaker culture: Brooklyn Museum

Sneakers, a true obsession. From their modest origins in the mid-nineteenth century to high-end shoes created in the past decade, sneakers have become the it-shoes in womenswear and menswear. The Rise of Sneaker Culture is the first exhibition to explore the complex social history and cultural significance of the footwear now worn by billions of people throughout the world.

The exhibition, which includes approximately 150 pairs of sneakers, looks at the evolution of the sneaker from its beginnings to its current role as status symbol and urban icon. Included are works from the archives of manufacturers such as Adidas, Converse, Nike, Puma, and Reebok as well as private collectors such as hip-hop legend Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, sneaker guru Bobbito Garcia, and Dee Wells of Obsessive Sneaker Disorder. Also featured are sneakers by Prada and other major fashion design houses and designers. 

Film footage, photographic images and design drawings explore the social history, technical innovations, fashion trends, and marketing campaigns that have shaped sneaker culture over the past two centuries.

Miu Miu at the Venice Film Festival

Films have become the new big thing in visual arts and fashion creativity.

Proofs are the many events taking place worldwide, such as the second edition of the Milano Fashion Film Festival (20th-22nd September 2015 fashionfilmfestivalmilano.com/) and the legendary ASVOFF ( ashadedviewonfashion.com/) launched in 2008 by the French influencer, journalist and blogger Diane Pernet.

Italian fashion brand Miu Miu keeps confirming its creative energy within this new trend. During the last Venice Film Festival it unveiled its newest movie "Les 3 Boutons", which marks the 10th commission from Miu Miu Women's Tales, the acclaimed short-film series by women who critically celebrate femininity in the 21st century.

"Les 3 Boutons" is directed by the legendary 87-year-old Agnès Varda, considered by many as forerunner to French New Wave cinema, and winner of the first honorary Palm d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Movie's lead is newcomer Jasmine Thiré, and it was shot on location in Bonnieux and also rue Daguerre, Paris, where Varda has lived for 50 years. The story gently reverses the clichés of girlhood. Jasmine prefers school uniform and education to the easy allure of a Cinderella lifestyle.

White Fair in Milan

A realm of avant-garde and of top-notch collections is back. 

The new appointment with the White Fair is set for the 26th to 28th of September 2015. The large selection of clothing and accessories collections will be divided into three exhibition areas located in Tortona 27, 35 and 54 (Superstudio Piu, Hotel Nhow, Ex -Ansaldo), each of which hosts inside special areas and themed sections.

The British showroom Six London reconfirms its presence at the show with the footwear labels Opening Ceremony, Markus Lupfer, Swear London, Thakoon Addition, Toga Pulla Footwear together with two new brands: Dora Teymur and Each X Other.

The third appointment with the contemporary jewellery will bring in via Tortona 35 a selection of niche jewels carried out in collaboration with Birik Butik, online store that sells independent designers, up and coming, from all over the world (birikbutik.com).

It's official: navy is the new black. Designers such as Fay, Nina Ricci and Lanvin, chose the colour for their 2015 Fall/Winter runaways, proving the enduring appeal of dark blue. We saw navy replacing black for everything: overcoats, blazers, pantsuits, especially paired with leather bags. But the it-piece leading the trend is the caban. Sportswear from American colleges, the so-called preppy style (from Pre-college Prepatory School), is back in the "campus".But more than a revival, it is a fashion evolution: a bold mix of colours and patterns.

The necessary items for a preppy outfitter include polos with numbers, cashmere knitwear, polo shirts, argyle motif and botton-down shirts.

The vibe comes across in the new Tommy Hilfiger's campaign, which features a team of college unisex accessories such as scarves and Oxford shoes, together with blazers and Ivy League sweatshirts.

A new exhibition curated by the V&A and the Crafts Council UK interrogates ideas of nowadays luxury. Not to miss!

Inaugurated a few weeks ago, the show is an extraordinary collection of works by designers, makers and artists using a selection of terms in order to engage with and expand upon current debate.

It addresses the production of exceptional objects, which demonstrate an extraordinary investment in time and handmaking. It explores how attitudes to luxury are shaped by cultural concerns and personal dreams. It challenges preconceived notions of value and provides an opportunity for thinking about the future of luxury in the 21st century. 

Making luxury is not concerned with practical solutions but with the extraordinary, non-essential and exclusive. Mastery of a craft and exceptional expertise are demonstrated by outstanding precision, attention to detail and remarkable finishes. Such quality is achieved by challenging and broadening established standards of craftsmanship and accepted categories of design. The resulting work combines high levels of innovation with a respect for craft traditions.

After the G-Raw denim collection, another collaborative initiative aims at taking plastic from the world's oceans and transform it into innovative denim and apparel, yet another fashion project on behalf of our ocean's health.
Adidas, in collaboration with The Parley for Oceans, an organization whose goal is to raise awareness about the state of the oceans, created a sneaker featuring an upper entirely made from yarns and filaments recovery. The materials used are derived either from plastic waste or from nets for deep sea fishing.
The prototype is only the first one of a series. At the end of the year the same process will be introduced to other products, which, this time, will go for sale.

Naomi Campbell new face for italian lingerie brand La Perla

The black panther always roars. After her star return as catwalk model at Givenchy's SS16 menswear show in Paris, the supermodel Naomi Campbell has been announced as the face of La Perla's new AW15-16 ad campaign.

The new ad campaign was created by photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott under the direction of the famed art director Fabien Baron. It makes the first time that Campbell gives her body to a premium lingerie brand.

The collection is comprised of many pieces that celebrate the brand's illustrious 60-year heritage, including ensembles that incorporate night robes and pajama trousers of ‘impossible lace'. Every piece is masterpiece, created by La Perla's skilled team of textile artisans in Bologna Italy.

Hot summer: Paris in Haute Couture mode

From Chanel to Atelier Versace, to new super debut of Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi, the best of couture is on stage.

The show has just begun. From July 5th to 9th, Paris is in haute couture mode with new Fall Winter 2015-16 Haute Couture Collections.

Defileés are taking places right now. French but also Italian designers will take over the runways, like Giambattista Valli, Giorgio Armani Privé, Schiaparelli, Versace and Valentino.

First fascinating defilé which opened the "ball" was Atelier Versace. Landing somewhere in-between Woodstock circa 1969 and Miami Beach Fall 2015, Donatella Versace's collection seemed to be a tribute to a "new girlish flower power" based on spectacular gowns with frothy falls of ruffles, flower crown in hair and all. And super model Karlie Kloss was called upon to lead the final walkout (in rose gown).

But the most anticipated star for this taking place edition is is going to be Karl Lagerfeld. After 50 years at Fendi, the designer is staging its first couture show. Inspiration? He saids: «It's all in the craftsmanship. At this level, you can push it to a level of craftsmanship that would be too expensive for ready-to-wear: mixing things, design, pattern, fur mixed with feathers, all kinds of things. For me, this is what's interesting».

To these objects, a new incredible exhibition in London at the V&AMuseum is dedicated. The gallery shows how fantasy has become increasingly vertiginous reality.

Nearly 250 pairs of shoes over the century until more extraordinaryrecent creations. Curiosity? Can a phyton bag be a soft and sophisticated accessory and a silver ornament at the same time?     It happens in Milano, where tomorrow (18th of June) a new capsule is to be showcased.

Protagonists are two italian brands: Mahl & Ross (Mahlandross.it) python leather bags collection created by Claudia Mahler and MariaCristina Rossi and characterized by large volume and minimal shapes, combined with a selected "taglio vivo" scrupolosly handpainted, and jewelry artist James Rivière.

The cooperation? A model for 9 pieces with silver jewels in nine different colors. Each sculpture is stitched on the bag and inspired by past works the italian artist has devoted to humanity. They are low reliefs, precious miniatures symbolizing fragments of arcaic history. A crossing over between leatherwear and jewelry, for a handbag which became art object. Uniqueness to wear, adaptable to every kind of use.

"Gaetano Pesce: One-of-a-Kind Iconic Works, 1969-2015," an exhibition featuring maquettes, furniture, vases and drawings by the visionary architect, designer and artist will be on view at Allouche Gallery from March 26 to April 25 2015.
Since the 1960s, Gaetano Pesce has been challenging the dogma of traditional aesthetics by creating a multidisciplinary practice that embraces an art, architecture and design of expressiveness that is a commentary on reality, color, fgurative representation and political commitment.
His poetic imagination and his continued use of humor and irony to attack the standardization of the mass-produced object and architecture set him apart from all other designers and architects. Hallmarks of Pesce's work are practicality, diversity and his use of contemporary materials such as foam, resin and urethane.

"Art and design should be a service to the people," he says. "An object should express more than beauty, nice form and function - it should be subversive and express a political point of view."
An example of practical design with a message is his UP Chair. The chair resembles a prehistoric, female fertility fgure with a ball attached to it by a chain.
The political point made by the design, according to Pesce, is that women are prisoners of men's prejudices and that in certain countries rights of women and people in general are systematically denied.
In addition, Pesce feels very strongly that democracy should protect differences and that design should celebrate the diversity of places, cultures, languages and identities.
